EIC Alexandra Shulman Says Adele Was Vogue UK’s Worst-Selling Cover, Thinks Sample Sizes Are Too Small

British Vogue EIC Alexandra Shulman gave a talk in London Wednesday night and the magazine published some of the most interesting takeaways on its own blog–something we can’t imagine ever happening at American Vogue. And at Italian Vogue, Franca Sozzani would have just blogged about it herself.

Regardless, Shulman, who flies pretty under the radar for a Vogue editor, revealed some interesting tidbits–like how one of the best-selling recording artists on the planet can’t sell fashion magazines, her burning desire to get Kate Middleton and how too-small sample sizes have prompted her to write letters to designers.

We were saddened to hear about the passing of Donna Summer, who lost her battle to lung cancer today at the age of 63. Summer moved us (both physically and emotionally) with her strong, sultry vocals, smoldering stage presence, and of course, her unabashedly glamorous look.

Not only did her voice define a genre, but her style set the standard for divas to come. You don’t have to look far to see traces of Donna’s style in some of our most beloved stars today.

The CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Chinese Exchange Program Welcomes Uma Wang to New York

Last night the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund welcomed Chinese designer Uma Wang to New York with a fancy cocktail party at the W New York Downtown–which will be Wang’s home for the duration of her six week stay. She is in town as a guest of the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund’s Chinese Exchange Program, which aims to engage key designers in a cultural exchange including industry events and introductions to key people within the U.S. market.

The event was hosted by Vogue’s Meredith Melling Burke along with CFDA’s Steven Kolb and W Hotels Global Fashion Director Jenné Lombardo. We also spotted Peter Som, Jenna Lyons and Opening Ceremony’s Kate Foley (who showed us some of her super cool tattoos).

Wang represents the exciting wave of innovative, high-quality designers putting the Chinese fashion industry on the map for all the right reasons.

Chloe Sevigny’s Fake Penis Made Her Cry

Chloe Sevigny has been pretty vocal lately about her disdain towards much of the fashion world. Last July, she told the New York Times that she finds going to fashion shows “boring,” and more recently told a British radio show (via The Cut) that being a street style fixture is “not fun for [her].”

Now, just before London’s Opening Ceremony pop-up shop rereleases five of her sold-out designs for the store, Chloe’s told Elle UK that fashion is “not really [her] passion.” Acting is her passion (duh), and her latest gig as a transgender contract killer in the upcoming mini-series Hit and Miss, brought her to tears, she says:
